Licensed & Leisure

The last 15 years have been turbulent for the licensed trade sector, beginning with the restructuring of the brewery estates, and seeing the emergence of pub groups, the relaxation of the licensing laws, the 2007 smoking ban, corporate restructuring and churn, and now Government intervention on pricing and leases, amongst other factors.

The understanding and appreciation of how each individual establishment fits into its local market is key to our appraisal and valuation, recognising that there is a need for traditional 'drinking' pubs as much as family-orientated pubs/restaurants.

Nightclub operators have had to adapt to the changing landscape with increased competition for late night drinking from pubs and bars, with operators having to diversify.

The hotel sector extends from seaside bed and breakfast establishments through to country house and city centre hotels, not forgetting dedicated conference and wedding venues, and holiday accommodation ranging from small camping and caravan sites to extensive holiday lodge parks.

Tourist and entertainment businesses encompass an ever-widening range of leisure facilities, including golf courses, fitness clubs, children’s activity centres, visitor attractions and leisure parks, providing everything from swimming pools and ice rinks to bowling alleys and wildlife parks.
