The last fifteen years have been turbulent for the licensed trade, beginning with the restructuring of the brewery estates, and seeing the emergence of pub groups, the relaxation of the licensing laws, corporate restructuring and churn and now with the forthcoming smoking ban due to be implemented in 2007.

Whilst the ownership of our pubs, clubs and breweries may be continually changing, the role of the licensed trade remains pivotal to British culture.

market is key to our appraisals and valuations, recognising that there is a need for traditional 'drinking' pubs as much as family-orientated pubs/restaurants.

As well as public houses, we are regularly asked to value private and members clubs, where barrelage discounts and live entertainment often have greater priority over profit margins.

Nightclub operators are having to adapt to the change in competition levels with the increase of late night drinking allowed in pubs and bars.
