Party Wall

Our Chartered Building Surveyors offer clear, impartial and expert advice on the potentially complex issues surrounding party walls.

When building works are proposed, such as extensions, alterations and maintenance works, agreement must be reached between neighbours where a shared (party) wall is involved.

As part of our service, we can check proposals to determine whether the Party Wall Act applies, undertake discussions with neighbours, and serve the required notices on all parties with an interest.

In the event of dissent, we will work with the Second Surveyor in agreeing an Award, which details the work to be carried out, when and how it will be done, and records the condition of the adjoining property before work begins. It may also grant access to both properties so the surveyor can inspect work in progress. The Award will determine who pays for the work if this is in dispute.
